The Historic Bank of Jena Foundation
History
LaSalle Economic Development District purchased the Bank of Jena (circa 1913) at 3285 N. First Street in downtown Jena in April 2025. The building will house the administrative office of this organization, serve as the meeting location of the Board of Directors and provide a hub for the parish’s economic and community development activities.
In February 2026, The Historic Bank of Jena Foundation, a 501(c)(3), was established. The mission of the foundation is to preserve, celebrate, and share the rich history and cultural significance of this landmark for present and future generations. We are dedicated to fostering community engagement and ensuring the stewardship of this historical building.
Future Plans
The goal of LEDD and this Foundation is to secure funds to preserve and rehabilitate this historical landmark including a full renovation of the second floor. The master plan for this building will lead the effort for historic restoration in downtown Jena. The Historic Bank of Jena is contributing property to the proposed National Register of Historic Places District in downtown Jena.
