History of the Scholars Fund

Since the establishment of the original Scholars Fund in 2013, approximately 500 high school graduates in LaSalle Parish have received more than $170,000 in scholarships. Currently, high school graduates with a 3.5 GPA or above and meet ACT requirements will receive a non-competitive $400 scholarship to the school/ training academy of their choice.

LaSalle Scholars Foundation

The LaSalle Scholars Foundation, a 501(c)(3), was established in December 2024 to help ensure the longevity of this LaSalle Parish scholarship program for graduates of Jena High School and LaSalle High School.

Within the foundation, there are several special/memorial accounts with a targeted goal:

1) CLTCC- Rod Brady Campus Scholarship

· Recipients must be enrolled at the Rod Brady campus in Jena

2) Thompson/Vickers Memorial Scholarship 

· Recipients must be receiving Special Education services  

3) Adrienne P. and Walter E. Dorroh, Sr. Memorial Scholarship 

· Recipients must be pursuing a law/business degree

4) W.B. & Ruth McCartney Scholarship in Education

· Recipients must be pursuing a degree in education

5) K & C Generations Scholarship 

· Recipients must be LaSalle High School graduates attending technical/community college

Donations

Donations to the foundation are accepted year-round. Checks should be made payable to the LaSalle Scholars Foundation, PO Box 775, Jena, LA 71342.
